Dr. Stefano Pallanti’s philosophy follows the credo of Hippocrates, i.e., to approach the medical profession with Philotechnical and Philanthropic principles:
Philotechnical principle: Dr. Pallanti initiates ideas, designs research procedures, and leads research in a multidisciplinary environment. He believes that constantly updating research guarantees the sole means to offer the most suitable and scientifically valid therapy.
Philanthropic principle: Dr. Pallanti commits to caring for each person as a whole and in a way suited to his or her individual characteristics, respecting that person’s dignity in every phase of life. To ensure this, we must see the person from multiple points of view, an approach both multidisciplinary and multimodal.
Intent of interventions
Dr. Pallanti’s clinical care and research activities proceed side by side, in tandem, applying cutting-edge neuroscience investigations and insights to therapeutic work, by utilizing clinical activities to formulate research hypotheses. Thus, the interventions offered by Dr. Pallanti's Istituto di Neuroscienze are intended to:
Continue research and updating as the only possibilities to offer avant-garde treatments validated by science;
Establish a precise diagnosis beyond behavior, filling the gap between psychiatry and other medical disciplines;
Promote new and effective therapeutic models, based on holistic medicine, the total human relationship and inner experience as fundamental elements of the recovery process;
Constitute a meeting point between conventional medicine, complementary medicine, and cutting-edge technologies to develop a constructive dialogue, with the conviction that there exist not separate and distinct types of medicine, but rather one field of Medicine whose sole interest preserves and maintains the human being.
Dr. Pallanti defines the clinical activity as a “translational science”, in which the physician must enlighten and combine the subjective experiences with the latest Neuroscientific achievements to establish the diagnosis and the personalized and focused target of any treatment.
Over time, the complexity and individuality of psychiatric disorders have rendered inadequate the idea that disease can be treated by just one “simple” method of intervention: medicine or psychotherapy alone. Fundamental are the principles of integration and mutual collaboration among different approaches to the treatment of psychiatric disorders, principles that are the foundation of the Philosophy adopted by the Istituto di Neuroscienze in structuring the therapeutic interventions offered to its patients.
The diagnosis and treatment approach
Dr. Stefano Pallanti takes a modern and original approach to the treatment of behavioral disorders that integrates Neuromodulation Therapy, the most innovative pharmacological treatments, healing-oriented psychotherapy, phytotherapy and the use of probiotics, Mindfulness, and any strategy that has been scientifically proven effective (Evidence-Based Therapy).
Dr. Pallanti’s personalized, integrated approach comprises:
Ascertaining the diagnosis and pursuing the achievement of “precision medicine” consistent with the Research Domain Criteria (RDoC) Project;
Attentive examinations of physical and medical conditions as a whole, beyond behavioral observation;
Accurate psychometric-instrumental evaluations whose goals are to identify and highlight the underlying brain circuitry networks.
Dr. Pallanti’s care aims to activate each individual and family resource to achieve a meaningful and rewarding life.
The integration of therapeutic resources today provides the most effective method of treatment for any clinical situation from the early stages of a disorder (warning signs and onset) to the maintenance of well-being, including cases that have hitherto proven resistant to treatments.
Once the diagnosis has been ascertained through accurate psychometric and instrumental evaluations, we active a personalized program of integrated care, which may draw even on non-pharmacological strategies when deemed necessary.
